8/7/2019 Week 1
Hey everyone!! It´s been a crazy first week here at the MTC in Guatemala, I´ve learned a lot and am getting kind of used to the mission life. I hope you guys received the picture with all of the missionaries at the Salt Lake Airport. There was honestly about 40 missionaries on the flight I was on. The teachers here are awesome! The food is pretty good, and everyone here is super nice! My companion is super cool and he is really good at Spanish. My companion's name is Elder Charles (Charlie) Wagner. He is from Minnesota. I have not been to the temple yet but I am going today around 2:00. They have encouraged us to read the Book of Mormon in 20 days, and we are going to read it twice here in the MTC. Anyways it´s been super cool and I´ve learned a lot!

Guatemala is super cool! The city here is similar or even bigger than Salt Lake City. The temperature is perfect probably in the high 70's and it rains a lot which is super nice. The other elders in my room are super nice and super funny. Learning Spanish and how to teach has been pretty stressful but it helps a lot to know that it has only been one week and I don´t have to have the language mastered yet hahaha. We were able to watch the last two MTC devotionals that were broadcast from the Provo MTC. I didn´t see Alex in them haha, but it was really cool to see all the missionaries at the Provo MTC. We got to listen to Elder Gong, and Elder Soares and they gave really great missionary talks. They also sang called to serve for the opening hymn in both the devotionals, and we sang it for some of the workshop meetings here in the MTC. We´ve sang it so many times here, and it´s a great song. Oh also I don´t know if you guys remember but Jon Fairbanks a kid I played golf with, is here in the MTC, and it was super cool to see him. He is going to El Salvador.
It hasn´t been as bad getting up early as I thought it would be. Thank you so much for the welcome package! I play the hymns for some meetings but I tried to play a different song and got in trouble kinda like Logan did in the Mexico MTC haha. They didn´t take my camera so I can use it here actually, but I don´t know how to upload pictures. Maybe I will send some next week if I can figure it out.
Thank you guys all so much for your letters and your prayers. It has seriously helped me more than you know! I love you all so much! I will see you all soon.
Love Elder Hirschi
